Mihon vs Suwayomi

August 23, 2025 | Author: Maria Lin
Mihon and Suwayomi are both free (and open-source) programs for reading manga and comic books. They support cbz/zip/epub/pdf formats, allow you to customize the reading area (scroll, swipe, background), make bookmarks, remember the last place, read offline. They have basic library management features like filters, search and sorting.

But Mihon is a native Android application that is simply installed on the phone as an apk file (it is not in the Google Play Store due to possible copyright infringement). It has a simple and minimalistic interface that works quite quickly and stably. Also, with the help of plugins (Tachiyomi extensions), you can connect the app to any online and local directories and manga sources

Suwayomi is a self-hosted server with access via a web interface/browser (or you can connect to it in a mobile application like Mihon). The program is well suited for home manga storage with access via a local network. It allows you to set up user profiles and access rights, manage the library and download comics from online sources.
