Latest news about Book Review and Discovery sites

22.03.26. Goodreads added Did Not Finish shelf

Goodreads has added a new shelf called "Unfinished" to its app. Goodreads already has a separate shelf for books you're currently reading and the app sends emails reminding you to update your shelf to complete them. However, some books are either too challenging or don't hold the interest of readers. Now you can mark a book as "Unfinished" (just like "Want to Read," "Reading Now," or "Read") and it will move to the appropriate shelf without any notifications. You can also move books between shelves; your reviews, ratings and reading history remain with your book. Books marked as "Unfinished" with a read date count toward your goal; books without a read date do not.

2026. Amazon Book Club is shutting down

Amazon has announced the closure of Amazon Book Club on March 1, 2026. Amazon Book Clubs launched in late 2020. It allowed readers to join public genre groups and receive monthly book recommendations. Many leading members of the Amazon Book Review team had their own groups, making it easy to find the next good book to read. Readers could join public groups dedicated to specific genres, such as mystery, romance or science fiction. Clubs could be private and invite-only or public. Each club had a brief description of its theme and its top recommendation. Clicking on the recommendation took you to the book's Amazon page. Amazon now directs users to GoodReads.
