2021. Kobo Elipsa adds Audiobooks support

Kobo has released a new software update for their full line of ereaders both old and new. The biggest change with the update is the addition of audiobook support for the 10.3-inch Kobo Elipsa that was released in June, so three of Kobo’s current devices support audiobooks now, including the new Kobo Libra 2 and Kobo Sage. The way Kobo updates work is you can wait for the new firmware to automatically download and install at some point while syncing, but updates are generally rolled out in phases so it can sometimes take several weeks to get an update.

2015. Onyx showed 13-inch HD e-reader

Onyx has announced a new 13.3-inch e-reader set to compete with the Sony Digital Paper and the forthcoming Pocketbook CAD. The e-reader will feature a newly developed flexible PVI HD touchscreen with a resolution of 2200 x 1650 and will come with a stylus for writing, drawing, or taking notes. This device will run on Google Android instead of Linux, allowing the installation of apps. However, it remains to be seen whether they will offer an app store or continue using the unofficial version of Google Play that their other e-readers utilize. Onyx has stated that this will be available in Spring 2016, but there is no information yet on pricing or availability.
