Kindle Colorsoft
Amazon's first color Kindle with a 7-inch high-contrast display and almost true-to-life colors. Its Page Color feature inverts black text and white background pages within books. It's also possible to highlight text in different colors. A single USB-C charge lasts up to 8 weeks (meaning the color display doesn't affect battery life). The e-reader can be charged using a wireless dock (sold separately). The glare-free display and automatically adjusting backlighting allow to read in bright sunlight and late at night. The waterproof case is made from recycled materials. The e-reader is ideal for reading comics and children's books (you can create separate children's profiles).

2026. Kindle's update brings new cloud storage options

Kindle Scribe and Kindle e-readers have received a new software update that adds new cloud storage features. Users now have a new settings option that allows them to control whether imported files from Microsoft OneDrive and Google Drive are available across Kindle devices. You can also now send your notes and documents from Kindle Scribe to Alexa+ for summarizing, asking questions and brainstorming. Older Kindle Scribe and Kindle e-readers have received the usual performance improvements, bug fixes and other general enhancements. However, new features may not be available immediately after installing a software update, but Amazon will release them later.

2026. New Kindle Scribe is available for order

The new Kindle Scribe Colorsoft and black and white Kindle Scribe are now available on Amazon. The new Kindle Scribe is eligible for Amazon's trade-in discount, so you can get a 20% discount when you trade in your old Kindle, even if it's broken and not working. Since the new Kindle Scribe is significantly more expensive than the previous generation, this makes the price more reasonable. For example, Kindle Scribe Colorsoft costs $629.99 for the 32GB model. The new black and white Kindle Scribe is priced at $499.99 with 32GB. A cheaper version of Kindle Scribe without a backlit screen is expected to be available soon.
