06.05.26. Vellum now allows to visualize word count
Ebook Creation software Vellum has released an update with some new features that give authors deeper insight into something every writer tracks: word count. Vellum has long displayed book’s word count, but now author can explore it visually with the new Word Count Graph. It displays the word count for each chapter and how it compares to the average, making it easy to analyze pacing, outliers and your book’s overall rhythm. The graph also offers a Running Total view, showing cumulative word count across the book. This view includes a marker indicating where your word count reaches 50%, so you can easily spot the midpoint.

Mac-based ebook creation software Vellum has released the new version 3.9. It enables authors to apply background not only in the first page but to every page of content. You can add a vintage paper texture, a wintery scene or a sparkling star field, then choose whether to apply it to just one chapter or your entire book. Also the new version allows to set up artistic page borders, like Floral filigree or Flickering flames. Page Borders are your chance to color outside the lines. Ebook editing program Vellum has introduced several new features. First - the updated search bar is more intuitive and can effectively search for words containing apostrophes, quotation marks or ellipses. Additionally, the launch window now displays up to 100 of the user's most recent files, with the option to pin frequently used files to the top. The update also allows users to control whether scene breaks appear at the top or bottom of the page. Other new features include the ability to undo changes to entire words rather than individual letters, a larger editing field in the text editor, a number indicating the presence of a custom title background, the inclusion of subheadings in the logical table of contents and improved functionality of the "Save with Next Previous Text" feature.
