05.12.25. Kobo Libra Colour gets larger battery



Kobo has released updated e-reader Kobo Libra Colour with larger battery and updated internal components. Kobo Libra Colour, released in early 2024, was Kobo's first color e-reader and had initially 2050 mAh battery. The new model has 2300 mAh battery, which should increase overall reading time by almost a week. To find out which model you have, go to the settings menu and click "About". This new version has a B appended to the model number: N428B. If the model number is N428, it's the old one.


2024. Kobo releases new firmware for Colour e-readers



Kobo is rolling out a new firmware update available for Kobo Libra Color and Clara Color e-readers. Among the changes included in this update is the addition of the Oxford English Dictionary 2024. Additionally, parental controls have been improved, preventing books and documents downloaded from third-party sources from being added to the My Books section while the feature is enabled. The OverDrive setup process has also been simplified. Another nice feature that only applies to the Libra Color is that when the e-reader is in sleep mode, pressing any of the page turn buttons will wake it up.


2024. Kobo launched its first color e-readers



Rakuten Kobo has released its first color e-readers, Kobo Libra Color and Kobo Clara Color. Both use latest Kaledio E Ink color display technology, which produces subtle pastel colors. Kobo Libra Color (which is similar to the monochrome Kobo Libra 2) features physical page-turn buttons and is compatible with Kobo Stylus 2 stylus for note-taking. It costs $220, $20 more than the Libra 2. The stylus must be purchased separately for $70. Kobo Clara Color is the same model as the Clara 2E, but with a 6-inch color display, an improved processor, increased memory and IPX8 water resistance. The processor upgrade is especially important, as Kobo Clara 2E's performance has received considerable criticism. Kobo Clara Color costs $150, which is also $20 more than Kobo Clara 2E.
