Here are the latest news about Draft2Digital:

08.02.26. Bookshop.org to sell Draft2Digital's indie author e-books

Draft2Digital and Bookshop.org announced a new partnership that makes hundreds of thousands of independent ebooks from indie authors distributed through Draft2Digital now available on Bookshop.org's rapidly growing ebook platform, with the partnership expected to grow to over a million titles as it expands. For the first time, the fastest-growing segment of publishing is directly providing a sustainable digital revenue stream for local bookstores. Draft2Digital supports over 330,000 authors worldwide and has helped generate over $500 million in ebook sales. Some experts believe this ecosystem is home to low-quality books (including those written by AI) that are impossible to publish with any major publisher and could significantly pollute Bookshop.org.

2025. Draft2Digital is changing its payout limits

Self-Publishing platform Draft2Digital is introducing new minimum payment thresholds ($10-$100) for various payment methods that previously had no minimum amount (PayPal, Payoneer, check, etc.). This primarily affects independent authors who publish their books themselves. According to the platform representatives the minimum payment threshold will help reduce administrative costs, minimize transaction fees and streamline processing. Going forward, payments will not be processed until author's account balance reaches the minimum required amount.

2022. Self-Publishing service Draft2Digital to acquire competitor Smashwords

Draft2Digital, a pioneer in self-publishing ebooks, has acquired its competitor Smashwords. The acquisition will give Draft2Digital users access to the Smashwords store, as well as its exclusive book marketing tools, such as Smashwords coupons, self-service merchandising, author interviews and book presentation tool Smashwords Presales. Authors using Smashwords, in turn, will get new tools: D2D Print ( print-on-demand service for paperbacks), improved metadata management tools, search in retail stores, automated final release for book series, split payments for co-authors and authors, more payment options, including direct bank transfers. Retailers and libraries served by both companies can expect a wider selection of titles. Smashwords shoppers can also expect an expanded selection of books from many of the top authors and publishers distributed by Draft2Digital.
