2022. Self-Publishing service Draft2Digital to acquire competitor Smashwords
Draft2Digital, a pioneer in self-publishing ebooks, has acquired its competitor Smashwords. The acquisition will give Draft2Digital users access to the Smashwords store, as well as its exclusive book marketing tools, such as Smashwords coupons, self-service merchandising, author interviews and book presentation tool Smashwords Presales. Authors using Smashwords, in turn, will get new tools: D2D Print ( print-on-demand service for paperbacks), improved metadata management tools, search in retail stores, automated final release for book series, split payments for co-authors and authors, more payment options, including direct bank transfers. Retailers and libraries served by both companies can expect a wider selection of titles. Smashwords shoppers can also expect an expanded selection of books from many of the top authors and publishers distributed by Draft2Digital.
