Mihon vs TachiyomiJ2K

August 30, 2025 | Author: Maria Lin
Mihon and TachiyomiJ2K are both mobile manga reading apps, both are made by the same team of developers and both are forks of the original Tachiyomi app. They only work on Android, because on iOS such an app would be blocked by moderators due to copyright infringement. Both apps are open source, allow to connect to online manga servers, read offline after downloading chapters. They have a dark theme, bookmarks and reading history.

But Mihon is a more modern app that provides less freedom but more stability. This is the main app that the development team relies on and regularly updates. It enforces strict moderation of extensions, supports only trusted manga sources, has a more conservative interface design but better compatibility with modern smartphones and tablets.

TachiyomiJ2K is an unofficial fork with advanced features (created mainly for reading hentai). It allows flexible customization of the interface and themes, provides more options for sorting and filtering, has a wider base of extensions/sources, including risky ones.
