Komikku vs TachiyomiSY

August 29, 2025 | Author: Maria Lin
Komikku and TachiyomiSY are both free and open source Android applications for reading manga and webtoons with the ability to connect to external online sources. They allow to store books locally for offline reading, provide a convenient reader with a dark theme.

But Komikku has an interface closer to the GNOME / GTK style (since the application is originally oriented to Linux and mobile distributions). It has simple navigation and a minimalist design, lightweight and low requirements for the phone. Komikku supports OPDS and other catalogs for book downloading. The app can be installed via F-Droid and Flathub (alternative app stores for Android).

TachiyomiSY is a fork of the old (discontinued) Tachiyomi app with extended functionality. It provides flexible interface and reading settings, various page turning styles, progress synchronization function. It supports many extensions and manga sources, has a richer set of plugins (even compared to the original).
