Kindle Oasis vs Kobo Aura

April 05, 2026 | Author: Dhaval Parekh
Kindle Oasis and Kobo Aura are both premium e-readers with E Ink screens - ideal for comfortable reading and minimal eye strain. Both have backlit making it easy to read in low-light conditions. They have large book storage (up to 32 GB), support Wi-Fi for downloading content and have a large battery that lasts for weeks without recharging.

But Kindle Oasis has a larger screen (approximately 7 inches diagonally), making it more comfortable to read and at the same time - slightly heavier (188 g). Its key feature is the physical side panel with page-turn buttons. It has better backlight temperature control and IPX8 water resistance. Naturally, it is integrated into the Amazon's ecosystem (connects to Kindle store, Amazon cloud) and supports almost no open formats.

Kobo Aura is a more compact and lightweight e-reader. Although it is also a terminal within the larger Kobo ecosystem, it still supports a variety of open file formats: EPUB, PDF, TXT and others. Users can also add their own fonts and fine-tune the text appearance. Books can be downloaded from third-party sources and libraries.
