Kindle Ereader vs Pocketbook Verse

The Basic Kindle ereader and Pocketbook Verse are both dedicated e-readers with glare-resistant e-ink touchscreen. Both feature a backlit with adjustable brightness for reading in the dark, good battery that provides a long battery life, compact and lightweight case, UI with adjustable text size and font and support notes and bookmarks.

However, Kindle ereader is primarily a client device for Amazon's bookstore, allowing you to purchase books. It only supports AZW and MOBI book formats, plus Amazon audiobooks. Books purchased from Amazon cannot be transferred from the ereader to your computer. It offers syncing with your phone via Amazon Cloud, faster performance (smooth page turning), Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for listening to audiobooks.

Pocketbook Verse is an open e-reader, not linked to any store. It supports multiple formats, including ePub and FB2, allows to download free books via OPDS and to incert microSD card for additional storage. The e-reader integrates with Calibre and Alfa Ebooks Manager for syncing with your desktop library. The killing feature of the Verse is its physical page-turning buttons. Verse is available in more color options (Kindle is black only).
