Apple Books for Authors
A self-publishing platform for the Apple Books ecosystem. Books can be published through an iTunes Connect account. Authors get 70% royalties on each e-book, regardless of price and can publish books for free. The platform provides tools for preparing books for publication, including converting from Word to EPUB, KF8, or PDF, creating covers, formatting files and creating beautiful page structure. It also makes it easy to convert a book into an audiobook with digital narration.

Reedsy
Reedsy is free and simple cloud based ebook creation platform. You can either write your whole book there, or copy and paste it in once you are finished. You can add pictures and notes. On the downside, the customizing options are very limited: this is the price you have to pay for them to be able to automatically generate your beautiful book.
Apple Books for Authors vs Reedsy in our news:

2019. Reedsy launches Goodreads alternative for indie authors

Reedsy has introduced a new book marketing tool called Discovery, specifically designed for indie authors. In theory, it will provide direct access to hundreds of reviewers and thousands of readers. Powered by machine learning algorithms and the Reedsy's community, Discovery will help authors find interested readers, like it happens on Goodreads. After registering, your book will be presented to a pool of relevant and experienced reviewers. On your chosen release date, your book will be presented to registered readers. They will be able to view a sample chapter, leave a comment, evaluate cover design, read and add reviews, rate it and purchase it from online retailers.

2016. Reedsy launched Google Docs for books

Reedsy, the marketplace for editors, cover designers and more, has introduced a book editor designed to seamlessly collaborate with your editors and produce a final manuscript. While this isn’t the first book editor, Reedsy’s book editor focuses on collaboration. It may not be as robust as Scrivener or Ulysses, but that’s not the primary goal. You can draft your manuscript in Scrivener and then complete the editing process in Reedsy. Think of this book editor as a Google Docs for books. It allows you to write and edit in your browser with everything saved in real-time. Multiple people can edit simultaneously, leave comments and track changes. It eliminates the cumbersome back-and-forth process associated with Word documents and confusing file names.
