Mendeley vs Paperpile

Mendeley and Paperpile are both reference management tools designed to help researchers organize and cite academic papers. They allow users to share documents and annotations, support import/export of references in various formats. Both software integrate with word processors for easy citate incertion and bibliography generation.

But Mendeley (launched in 2008) is UK-based software aimed at a broad range of researchers, students, and academics. It provides features for large-scale research projects including social network component for researchers, allowing users to connect and follow others in their field. Mendeley includes 2 GB of free cloud storage for users, with paid plans for additional storage.

Paperpile (2013) is German software better suited for researchers that use Google Workspace because it integrates with Google Docs, allowing for real-time collaboration on documents. It also uses Google Drive for storage.
