Koreader vs Moon Reader

March 05, 2026 | Author: Maria Lin
Koreader and Moon Reader are both Android e-readers that allow to read your own ebooks and support many popular book formats (epub, pdf, mobi, etc.). They allow to flexibly customize the reading area, change fonts and spacings, add bookmarks and annotations. Both applications have built-in dictionaries, night reading mode and synchronization of progress between devices.

But Koreader works not only on Android, but also on Linux desktops and even on e-ink devices. It is a free open-source program with a large number of plugins from the community. It has a lighter and more optimized interface, displays PDF books more correctly, has better integration with cloud services (Dropbox, Google Drive, OPDS).

Moon Reader has a more beautiful design, has different themes with smooth page turning animation. Its unique features are TTS support (reading books aloud), reading statistics and achievements, integration with Goodreads (although all this is available only in the paid service)
