"Reading a book is like re-writing it for yourself. You bring to a novel, anything you read, all your experience of the world" Angela Carter

Kobo Aura vs Kobo Libra

April 05, 2026 | Author: Dhaval Parekh
Kobo Aura and Kobo Libra are both e-readers with E Ink screens from the Canadian company Kobo. Both feature a backlit touchscreen, long battery life (weeks without recharging) and a USB-C port for loading books from a computer. Both support major book formats (EPUB, PDF and others), allow customization of fonts, text size, margins and line spacing, have a built-in dictionary and text search and can sync with your Kobo cloud account.

However, Kobo Aura is an older entry-level model with 6-inch screen. It is less expensive, more compact and lighter than the Libra. It has fewer settings, no advanced color temperature modes and standard "classic" symmetrical design. Overall, it's suitable for those who value simplicity and compactness.

Kobo Libra is 7-inch more modern and premium model. It has an asymmetrical body with a wide side bezel and physical page-turn buttons on the side bezel. This makes Libra more comfortable to hold especially during long reading sessions. It features an improved backlight with adjustable color temperature, newer hardware (meaning it runs faster) and some new features, such as Instapaper for reading Web articles.
