2023. Kindle Direct Publishing has updated category selection

Until now Kindle Direct Publishing authors could choose up to ten categories for their books. But the new rules limit authors to just three categories, so there's a risk your book will get lost in the sea of publications. Amazon also added the following disclaimer: "We reserve the right to change book categories at any time to ensure a positive user experience. The categories you add and the categories displayed on the site may not always match. Your book may be added to additional or different categories to improve the user experience." So, head to your KDP dashboard now and update your book categories yourself. If you don't, Amazon will automatically categorize your books into the appropriate three categories.
