Kavita vs LANraragi

December 24, 2025 | Author: Maria Lin
Kavita and LANraragi are both self-hosted servers for reading manga, comics and other books via web interface. They can be installed on different operating systems (Linux, Windows, Mac), allow to create a personal home library, work with CBZ, CBR formats, allow to parse tags and metadata.

But Kavita is a more modern system that supports not only comics, but also regular books. It has a more convenient interface, the ability to create multiple user profiles, automatically organize books into collections and can stream books to applications on mobile devices.

LANraragi is a lighter and faster server, focused on reading dojinshi and manga. It is less functional than Kavita. But at the same time, LANraragi provides flexible expansion options by means of installation (or development of your own) plugins. Therefore, this server is suitable for more technically savvy users who want to build an individual solution for their needs.
