February 24, 2026 | Author: Maria Lin
Goodreads and Libib are both online platforms for cataloging books. You can create personal virtual "bookshelves" or collections, search for books and sort them by tags or categories and export/import data. They support different types of media (Libib supports books, movies, games; Goodreads supports primarily books and reviews).

But Goodreads (2006) is a website owned by Amazon - it's primarily a social network with a huge database of books, ratings, reviews, book clubs and recommendations. It uses AI algorithms that allow to discover books and authors that fit your interests. You can create your library only from books that are in the Goodreads database. There is an API for retrieving book data (if Amazon hasn't closed it yet)

Libib (2012) is a cloud-based system for managing a personal book collection or a school/organization library. It allows you to create collections from any books you have, add tags, notes, import/export data and share collections. Libib supports not only books, but also board games, movies, music, video games
