Foxit Reader vs PDF-XChange Viewer

September 23, 2025 | Author: Maria Lin
Foxit Reader and PDF-XChange Viewer are both free Windows programs for viewing PDF books and documents. They allow to open multiple PDF files at once and switch between them using tabs, include tools for highlighting and underlining text, adding annotations and comments, searching within the document and work quickly even with large files. For both companies the free PDF reader is a way to attract users to a paid PDF editor.

However, Foxit Reader has a more modern and familiar interface reminding Microsoft Office, supports PDF forms, integrates with cloud services, is faster and uses less computer memory. In addition to the desktop version, it offers mobile apps for iOS and Android.

PDF-XChange Viewer offers more features, such as toolbar fine-tuning, custom stamps, exporting annotations to a separate file, detailed document properties viewer and basic OCR. Although it is also a lightweight program, it is still slightly inferior to Foxit Reader.
