Mendeley
Free, universal reference manager for managing and sharing research papers, as well as creating bibliographies for research articles. Mendeley allows to search over 100 million articles from multiple publishers, quickly add PDFs to your library, organize them with collections and tags, then read and annotate them. You can work with a single database across the desktop app, web version and Word plugin. It provides 2 GB of free storage. The program features an AI assistant that thoroughly understands your library and quickly finds what you need, identifying patterns, relationships, and missing links in your references. Mendeley's AI interprets the logic behind your queries, extracting context-rich information from your documents.

2020. Mendeley Web Library is changing to the new Mendeley Reference Manager

Mendeley's Web Library has now been migrated to the new Mendeley Reference Manager, a cloud-based library that automatically syncs your changes across all your devices and within Mendeley Cite. The online and desktop versions of Mendeley Reference Manager have identical interface and functionality, making it easy to switch between them. Furthermore, the offline mode allows you to continue working while offline, ensuring your changes will be automatically synced when you get the connection. The new Mendeley Reference Manager also includes additional features that make reference management even easier, including Mendeley Notebook, which helps you organize notes and highlights from multiple PDFs in one place.

2017. Mendeley adds sweet citation management on Windows

The new Mendeley Cite tool allows users to cite sources and create bibliographies inside Office 365. Previously, this feature was available through the Mendeley citation plugin, but it required Mendeley Desktop to be installed. The new add-in is downloaded with your Office 365 cloud library, allowing you to easily switch between Office applications and inserting citations. While Microsoft Word has a limited number of citation styles, users now can install additional styles from BibWord. The new feature is only available on Windows for Word 2010 and later.
