BookLore vs Kavita are both open-source self-hosted servers for managing your own e-book collection. After installing the server, you can work with it via web interface, which also has a web-reader that supports popular ebook formats. In the library, you can create categories, shelves or lists for easy searching. Both programs support multi-user access (and different access rights for different users).
But BookLore is a more functional program. It allows you to organize books via Libraries and Shelves feature, automatically download metadata from Goodreads, Amazon, Google Books (including bulk loading with automatic metadata recognition), edit metadata, flexibly adjust settings of book view and progress bar in the reader. It supports OPDS1.2 protocol, which allows you to read books in compatible mobile apps (and not just in the web interface). It has more flexible access rights settings, the ability to send books by e-mail directly from the application.
Kavita has very fast (so-called "rocket fueled") and convenient interface with different theme-styles and customization options. It supports more formats (in particular, excellent support for comic books - cbr, cbz, zip / rar, etc.). Kavita has a full-text search, ratings and reviews and allows to save filters. Built-in reader supports special modes and features for reading manga: web toon, double page, pumping, instant loading.
