"If there's a book you really want to read but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it" Toni Morrison

AlfaReader vs Icecream Ebook Reader

AlfaReader and Icecream Ebook Reader are both Windows e-book reading software. They support popular formats like EPUB, MOBI and FB2, let you manage a small library of books, track your reading progress, offer flexible text display customizations, search inside books and navigate via table of contents, highlighte and add notes. They also offer a night- and full-screen mode for comfortable reading.

AlfaReader, however, is paid-only program. It supports not only text formats but also image- and page- based formats like PDF, CBZ/CBR and DJVU. It also has a built-in audio player for listening to audiobooks (MP3, MB4). The main interface uses a virtual bookshelf with covers in an optional old-school style. You can use custom styles for displaying books, which is important for illustrated books. The program integrates with Alfa eBooks Manager - the super popular library manager.

Icecream Ebook Reader has a free version, but it only allows you to read EPUB files. The program features text-to-speech (TTS) and the ability to select phrases and translate them or search in Google/Wikipedia directly from the app. The book library is more advanced than Alfareader's - it allows to sort, add categories, edit book titles and authors. The paid version of Icecream Ebook Reader is significantly more expensive than AlfaReader.
