Librera vs Moon Reader

March 07, 2026 | Author: Maria Lin
Librera and Moon Reader are both Android apps for reading ebooks. They support many modern formats (EPUB, PDF, MOBI, etc.), allow flexible reading area adjustments, have a night mode for reading in the dark, built-in dictionaries and translators, ability to add bookmarks and notes and can sync reading progress between devices via Dropbox or Google Drive.

However, Librera is a completely free app with an open license. It has a lighter and faster interface without unnecessary elements, so it works even on older, less powerful smartphones. Librera also features customizable gestures and buttons, built-in Auto-Scan for searching books across your device, customizable TTS engine and built-in media player.

Moon Reader offers a free version, but its core functionality is only available in the paid Pro version. This app features convenient library management with sorting and tags, advanced reading statistics system, smooth page-turning animations, large number of built-in themes and integration with OPDS catalogs for downloading free books.
