"Reading a book is like re-writing it for yourself. You bring to a novel, anything you read, all your experience of the world" Angela Carter

Listen Audiobook Player vs Smart Audiobook Player

January 20, 2026 | Author: Maria Lin
Listen Audiobook Player and Smart Audiobook Player are both audiobook players for Android. Both can play audio files in a variety of formats (MP3, M4A, M4B, OGG, AWB, WMA), remember last listening position, allow to adjust playback speed, can run in the background and have a sleep timer. Both offer basic book cataloging features.

But Listen Audiobook Player is more functional. It lets you organize audiobooks into folders, integrates with Android Auto and the Plex/Audiobookshelf media servers for downloading books and includes such features as silence trimming, pitch and volume balance controls, equalizer, noise reduction and channel conversion. You can also save individual settings for each book. Books can be added via USB, clouds and WebDAV protocol.

Smart Audiobook Player can categorize books by status (new, started, completed), make auto-pause if the device is not moving and resume playback with a shake. It supports the Chromecast protocol for playback on external speakers and allows to create a widget on your smartphone's home screen. One more interesting feature is the character list for easy plot tracking.
